the magnitude of the cargo theft problem.
Ninety
percent of the world’s trade moves by cargo container.
On any given day, 24 million containers are in the U.S.
- 7.6
million containers enter the U.S. each year.
- Approximately
5 percent of all container movements in the world are stolen,
damaged or experience excessive delays.
- Approximately
90 percent of the world’s trade moves by
cargo container.
- The
container industry grew by 8 percent in 2003.
- 592,000
interstate motor carriers operate more than 2.5 million
heavy trucks and two million medium trucks in the U.S.
- 800,000
hazardous shipments move across American highways
each day.
- Insurance
premiums now rank as the fourth largest cost in most shipping
companies.
- Since
9/11, rates have soared based largely on fear of consequential
damages.
- The
access control segment of the security industry had $8.4
billion in revenue last year.
- The
cargo security industry market is projected to grow 67
percent
this year.
- More
than $60 million dollars a year are spent on indicator
seals alone.
- Location-based
wireless services should generate $4 billion in
revenue
in 2004.
- GPS
equipment sales reached $16 billion in 2003.
